FILM FORUM CORONADO: "Sommaren Med Monika"/"Summer with Monika"

Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents FILM FORUM CORONADO, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the library's Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story.

July 19: Sommaren Med Monika (Summer with Monica, Swedish with English subtitles,1953, 98 min)

Inspired by the earthy eroticism of Harriet Andersson, Ingmar Bergman turned out this sensual and ravaging tale of young love.  A rebellious young girl and a conservative young boy from working-class families run away to spend a secluded romantic summer at the beach. It’s not long before they are forced to return to reality.
