Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents FILM FORUM CORONADO, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month* (*except this month, which will be the first and fourth Wednesdays) at 6:00 p.m. in the library's Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story.

September 7: Floating Weeds (1959, 118 min) Japanese with English subtitles

A Technicolor masterwork of profound humanity, filled with striking compositions, buoyant humor and sublime poetry. Yasujiro Ozu creates a dreamy, quietly simmering atmosphere of emotional tension in his tale of the master of a traveling troupe of actors who reunites with an old flame and their son, enraging his current mistress.
