Join the Library for our Autumn Concert Series Friday's from September 3 to November 5th. Each concert will begin at 1 p.m. in the Winn Room. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to the performance. All performances will also be livestreamed on the Library’s Facebook Page.

On Friday, October 1, Naomi Hobbs will play a selection of classical music by Latin American Composers. She will be playing a selection of pieces from Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica, Curaçao, Brazil and Argentina. 

Naomi Hobbs is a top prize concert pianist from Tokyo, Japan.  She started taking piano lesson at the age of four and earned her Music Degree at the Musashino Music University in Tokyo, where she also taught.    She performed Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Piano Concerto with the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra in 1998 in Japan.   She was the instructor of Music and Piano class at San Diego Community College of Continuing Education after she moved to San Diego in 1999.   She was the music and choir director of the Pioneer Ocean View United Church of Christ in San Diego.  She is the director and conductor of San Diego Japanese Chorus “The Harmonies” which she arranges their music since 2003.  She performs solo and piano duo concerts throughout the San Diego area. She is also a composer and arranger.  During this pandemic at home, she is enjoying composing and arranging the music.

She won first place at the 7th International Piano Competition held in Mexicali, Mexico, in November of 2012 and the gold medalist of 6th Seattle International Piano Competition in 2015.
