Ian Lawrence is a versatile guitarist with a career spanning 15 years. Born and raised in San Diego, CA he was a longtime student of local guitar legend Fred Benedetti. In 2019 Ian released his first solo album 'From Within' which showcases his inner spirit through music. Combining the fiery rhythms of flamenco with the refined elegance of classical guitar, Ian Lawrence's performances are characterized by their emotive storytelling and technical precision.
Ian is also an accomplished composer of original music for classical guitar. His highly melodic compositions with rich textures and sweeping dynamic contrasts offer a unique perspective that expands the classical guitar repertoire in a significant way. Ian has performed at several venues throughout San Diego County including the Handerly Hotel, Orfila Winery, Cordiano Winery, Izola Bakery, the Rancho Santa Fe Library, and Casa de Mañana to name a few. Since 2022 Ian has been a regular featured soloist with the San Diego based Cabrillo Chamber Orchestra and has performed with the Grossmont Master Chorale under the direction of Dr. Randall Tweed. Additionally, Ian has also performed in master classes with many renowned classical guitarists including Angel Romero, Johannes Moller, Thomas Viloteau, and Paul Galbraith.
