Event Details

In Honor of National Library Week (April 4-9), Kids, Teens, and Adults invited to participate in the Coronado Public Library's FIRST Edible Book Contest!

An edible book contest is a contest where you create a scene inspired by your favorite book using edible ingredients. You could decorate a cookie with frosting inspired by your main character, make a graham cracker castle that looks like Hogwarts, create a candy forest inspired by the Hundred Acre Wood, or an spaghetti sauce inferno that Dante would approve of. As long as it's 80% edible, your creation can be submitted!

All entries must be submitted by April 11th.

How it works:

1. Pick your book and plan the scene you will create.

2. Using at least 80% edible ingredients, make a creation inspired by your book! Remember, taste doesn't matter for this contest. So while ingredients need to be edible, they don't have to taste good together. The remaining 20% of your ingredients can be structural supports like toothpicks or small decor items.

3. Take a picture of your creation and send it to rsvp@coronado.ca.us. Make sure to include:

  • Your Name
  • The category you are submitting under (Kids, Teens, or Adult)
  • The title of the book you used for inspiration
  • Your ingredient list
