“THE SWIMMER”
(1968, 94 minutes)
Burt Lancaster headlines this hypnotic, haunting and surreal adaptation of John Cheever’s short story. The film follows the metaphoric odyssey of a disillusioned ad executive (Lancaster) as he confronts his destiny by swimming home pool-by-pool, pining for a golden past that may not exist. (Co-starring Kim Hunter, Janice Rule and Joan Rivers.)
