Maria Christina has been singing for most of her life. She discovered the joys of performing at the age of 5 when she sang her first solo. Many people ask her, “how long have you been singing”, and she replies, “ I was singing in the womb”! Music is Maria’s love and the delight of her life; when you hear her sing you too will be a witness to this deep affinity to music that she radiates while performing the music she loves to share.Early on, Maria discovered a love for the great 20th century songs, ranging from the 1920’s and 30’s showtunes through the classic 1950’s and 60’s pop and soul songbook and into the 80’s, 90’s and beyond. Any song that has “good bones” and lyrics that appeal is a possibility for Maria. Two songwriters that especially appeal to her are Elton John and Stevie Wonder, for obvious reasons. One not-so-obvious twist is having a female vocalist own these tunes as well as many others, by the Commodores, Journey, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye and others. Her sets also include “deep tracks”- songs that were loved but are not as commonly played now. Folks in the audience break into smiles, nods, and dance moves when these songs are played, as they bring a fresh twist mixed in with classics like Heard it Through the Grapevine and Let’s Stay Together.https://youtu.be/NNZ0tyIdWuk
