Performer Biographies:

Born in New York City, Marilyn Rees's father was in the Navy and her family moved several times. They landed in Coronado in 1955, and she graduated from Coronado High School in ‘57 and went off to Stanford University. She spent several years traveling to Mexico City, Vienna, and after graduation, Maracaibo, Venezuela. Eventually, she ended up back in Northern California, got married, had two children, and worked in the Gifted Program and started up the computer program in the Lafayette School District. She moved back to Coronado and has lived here full-time since 2000. Marilyn played every Monday night at Vigilucci’s and now plays weekly at Emerald C Gallery on Saturdays.

Mary Munger Taylor has traveled throughout the United States and Europe, acting and singing in venues ranging from opera to summer stock to Broadway. Personal favorites include starring on Broadway as Sally Bowles opposite Joel Grey in Hal Prince’s 20th anniversary revival of Cabaret. Since that time Mary’s appearances have included the creation of the role of Eve in the late AJ Antoon’s Genesis at Joe Papp’s New York Shakespeare Festival. She can be heard as Mae Jones on the London Records release of Kurt Weill’s Street Scene, and acted as Drama Coach on that company’s recording of Marc Blitztein’s Regina. Since moving to Coronado with her husband of 28 years (Robert Taylor, CHS ’62), Mary has appeared nightly at San Diego’s premiere theatrical institution, The Old Globe, as House Manager.

Robert Taylor grew up in Coronado before heading off to MIT in the 1960s. After more than five decades away, he returned to his beloved hometown after retiring from his most recent position as Vice President of Systems at Morgan Stanley in New York City. Coming home brought him back to his roots and all-time passion -- music. In 2014, Rob performed in the La Jolla Playhouse’s much-acclaimed The Hunchback of Notre Dame. San Diego appearances with the San Diego Master Chorale include the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience (2018), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2019), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2018) and Star Wars: A New Hope (2018). He sings with the San Diego Master Chorale, the Christ Church Choir and occasionally with Sacra Profana, San Diego's premiere professional a capella chorale. As current President of Coronado Rotary (2021-22), Rob relishes “giving back” to the vibrant Coronado community. When he can find time, he also enjoys tutoring local middle and high school students in math, as well as his ongoing vocal studies with San Diego Opera’s Michael Sokol.
