“Dr. Kat” to Speak to Parents at Coronado Public Library

"Not all screen time is bad," says Dr. Katherine Nguyen Williams of the Department of Psychiatry at Rady Children's Hospital and Associate Clinical Professor at the School of Medicine, UCSD. In the wake of the pandemic and amid an atypical school year, many parents are wondering that very thing. Dr. Williams, who also hosts the “Ask Dr. Kat” show on BellaVTv, believes it's the quality of the screen time that's important for kids.

On Tuesday, October 13th, at 7 p.m., Dr. Williams will co-host a virtual lecture on Zoom for Coronado Public Library users. She will be accompanied by Julia Allen, LCSW, a licensed therapist with extensive experience in providing therapy to children of all ages and families. Registration for the event is available below. In addition to discussing the effects of increased media use in school-aged children, the hosts will advise parents on how to address children’s fears as well as how to explain the significant changes arising from the pandemic. A question-and-answer session will follow.
