KPBS and community partners including the Library present a special live online event with Carole Lindstrom, author of the 2022 One Book, One San Diego children's selection, We Are Water Protectors.

A 2021 winner of the Caldecott Medal and a #1 New York Times Bestseller, We Are Water Protectors, illustrated by Michaela Goade, is inspired by the many Indigenous-led movements across North America. Written directly in response to the Dakota Access Pipeline protests, the book tells the story of an Ojibwe girl who fights against an oil pipeline in an effort to protect the water supply of her people. It issues an urgent rallying cry to safeguard the Earth’s water from harm and corruption.

This free event will be livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook. Register to receive the link via email as well as event reminders to view the livestream. To register, click the large "Register for this event" button at the right-hand side of this page.
