This November, Spoilers Book Club is getting into the holiday mood with Les Standiford’s The Man Who Invented Christmas. This lively account tells the story of how Charles Dickens, facing financial hardship and fading popularity, set out to write a small book that would revive his career—and ended up creating A Christmas Carol, a work that forever changed how we celebrate the season.

Blending history, literature, and the magic of storytelling, Standiford reveals the challenges Dickens overcame, the inspirations behind his timeless characters, and how one man’s determination brought forth a story of redemption that continues to warm hearts nearly two centuries later.
