Come and learn about the amazing sea turtles living in our backyard from a local biologist and community scientist! This presentation will cover sea turtle ecology, the history of our local population, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) current turtle research throughout southern CA, and most importantly, how you can be a citizen scientist for sea turtles!
Anna Cahill is a lab technician with the Marine Turtle Ecology and Assessment Program at NOAA's Southwest Fisheries Science Center in La Jolla. She has worked with the green sea turtles in San Diego for over two years.
Tracy Tempest is a community scientist that has worked closely with local NOAA scientists to monitor and advocate for the local sea turtle population since 2020. She has been awarded Emerald Keeper of the Month (2022) and was the recipient of the Environmental Hero Award for Water (2025) for her efforts with the turtles.
