Event Details

Cellist Lars Hoefs and pianist Aline Alves come back to Southern California from Brazil, presenting their Villa-Lobos Festival. They will play music by Heitor Villa-Lobos and other Latin American composers in this, the first of three Coronado concerts, on Friday, January 5 at 1:00 p.m. in the Winn Room at Coronado Public Library. (The second concert takes place on Friday, January 12 at 1:00 p.m. in the Winn Room, and the third on Saturday, January 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Grand Room at the John D. Spreckels Center).

Aline and Lars kick off this year's residency with Villa-Lobos’ early work, the Grand Concerto, a testament to the unbridled ambitions and dreams of youth; as well as evocative starlit music by Mexican composers Ponce and Marquez.

This concert is free and no reservations are required. Seating is first-come, first-served, general admission. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.
