Are you ready to share that poem you’ve been writing? Maybe you’ve thought about it but did know how to get started? Learn how to express your thoughts and feelings through poetry in this workshop led by Tania Pryputniewicz and submit your work to this year’s KidsWrite! poetry contest! Now more than ever, facing pandemic uncertainty and healing divides on so many fronts, we are eager to hear from the vibrant and powerful minds of our younger generation: You! In this workshop, you will write to a series of poetry prompts meant to help you generate new poetry around this year’s San Diego Writers’ Festival KidsWrite! poetry contest theme, “What the World Needs Now.”  Bring paper, pencil, and your passion for poetry.

About the instructor:

A graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, Tania Pryputniewicz was on the judging panel for poetry entries in the high school division for last year’s KidsWrite! poetry contest sponsored by the San Diego Writers Festival. Tania is the author of November Butterfly (Saddle Road Press, 2014) and her poems have appeared in America, We Call Your Name: Poems of Resistance and Resilience, NILVX: A Book of Magic (Tarot Series), The Rockvale Review and at SWWIM online. Her Heart’s Compass Tarot workbook is forthcoming on Valentine’s Day, 2021 from Two Fine Crows Books. Tania teaches at San Diego Writers, Ink and Antioch University’s Continuing Education Program. She lives in Coronado with her husband, three children, one blue-eyed Husky and a formerly feral cat named Luna.
