Kellie Uyeda, Ph.D., a research scientist at the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, will give a presentation about Dr. Edith Purer and San Diego's Salt Marshes. Dr. Purer was California's first female ecologist and wrote a book about the plants of Silver Stand State Park. Dr. Uyeda's talk will share more about Dr. Purer's work in our unique wetlands, as on display in the Library's exhibit hall from April through June.

Kellie specializes in vegetation mapping and monitoring. She has a Ph.D. in Geography from San Diego State University / University of California, Santa Barbara.

Join Dr. Uyeda on May 18th for a nature walk down the Strand, as Dr. Purer once led.
