The Library's Autumn Concert Series takes place on Fridays from September 1 to November 3. Each concert will begin at 1 p.m. in the Winn Room. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to the performance. This week, cellist Peter Ko will be playing Bach's Suite No.1, music from the Renaissance, and more.
Praised as “particularly moving” (San Diego Story) and showing “extraordinary [musicianship]" with “unbroken focus … fierce and committed” (San Diego Union Tribune), Peter Ko is a cellist based in San Diego, California. As a performer, his training and projects have taken him across the USA, Mexico, Canada, and Europe. His collaborations with other renowned musical artists include Mark Fewer, the Dover String Quartet, Steve Schick, Tony Arnold, and Charles Curtis. Ko has performed at the soundSCAPE music festival, SICPP, Darmstädter Ferienkurse, with the Palimpsest and Renga ensembles, and with Project [BLANK]. He currently serves as principal cellist for the La Jolla Symphony and Chorus.
Ko received his significant musical training from Charles Curtis, Vernon Regehr, Ron Leonard, and Felix Fan. He holds a MMus from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a BA from the University of California, San Diego. He is currently working towards his DMA in Contemporary Music Performance at UCSD.
