Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents FILM FORUM CORONADO, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the library's Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story.

March 1: Arrival (2016, 89 min) in keeping with the space theme of the 2023 Coronado Community READ, Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.

Why are they here? Denis Villeneuve directed this hypnotic, visionary and mysterious tale of humanity’s first contact with alien culture. When an extraterrestrial monolith lands in the wilds of Montana, a linguist (Amy Adams), an Army Colonel (Forest Whitaker) and a military physicist (Jeremy Renner) are enlisted to decode the visitors' language and communicate with them to determine their intentions.
