Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents FILM FORUM CORONADO, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the library's Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story.

February 7: Uptight (1968, Rated M for mature audiences, 104 min)

A man on the run. A life at stake. A people about to explode. Ruby Dee and Jules Dassin collaborated on this incendiary, unjustly forgotten update of the 1935 John Ford film The Informer. Martin Luther King’s assassination is the backdrop for a  gritty tale of a Black revolutionary group and the botched arms heist that threatens to tear them apart. Starring Raymond St. Jacques, Ruby Dee, Julian Mayfield and Frank Silvera. Score by Booker T. & The MGs.
